Unione Sportiva Città di Palermo, better known to most European nations as Palermo FC, play their football in Serie A, the top level of Italian football. Founded in 1900 on the island of Sicily under the name ‘Anglo Panormitan Athletic and Football Club', they finalised a name in 1987, where they decided on U.S. Città di Palermo.

Palermo FC have a rich history of success in the lower leagues of Italian football, most noticeably winning the Serie B Championship 4 times, in the 2003 - 2004 season, when they were last promoted to Serie A. Since having advanced, they have enjoyed a consistent run of success, including qualifying for the UEFA cup for the past three seasons, narrowly missing out on a place in the Champions League in 2007. They have cemented their place in Serie A, and will be hoping to break into the top 4 in the 2009 - 2010 season.
